"Hello? Santa, are you real?"

Do you have a child questioning Santa this year?

Tell them the truth.

St. Nicholas did great things. People all over the world want to be just like him, spreading cheer and goodwill to others. Just as people dress up like superheroes, they also dress up like Santa---and every culture has its own version of such heroes and villains.

Take this as an opportunity to dive into Christmas practices around the world...and talk about the winter solstice. Begin with, "now that you're old enough to understand more about the mystery..." and give them a choice to participate going forward, or not.

It's an awesome moment in a child's life to discuss topics like hope, kindness, joy, and the ways in which societies and communities try to keep these traits alive during the darkest days.

Awakening and awareness do not always have to be painful.

Love, Your Magical Christmas Markets Gal
